Conservation

As a falconer with over 25 years experience, I have always been concerned with the preservation and conservation of Birds of Prey. On moving to Nepal, I became aware of the extent of the crisis that is affecting Asia's Vultures.

Asian Vultures are dying out in their millions, the cause is an anti inflammatory drug called Diclofenac which is administered to sick and dying cattle. When the Vultures eat the carcass, they ingest traces of the drug which causes renal failure and eventual death. The decline is so catastrophic that in just 12 yeas, 3 species of Vulture are down by a staggering 99.9%. These Vultures face extinction in no less than 10 years.

Parahawking receives a lot of international media attention, we are able to use this as a platform to promote conservation in Nepal and help save Asia's vanishing vultures.
